From Hildesheim via Goslar, Quedlinburg and Weimar to Wartburg Castle

Hildesheim is the cultural centre halfway between Hanover and the Harz. At the heart of the Leinebergland holiday region this is the ideal place to combine walking with culture. Amidst the picturesque Harz countryside are the towns of Goslar and Quedlinburg, whose medieval cores blend harmoniously into the charming scenery surrounding them.

The road from Goslar to Quedlinburg leads past the ancient town of Wernigerode, the perfect starting point for a walk in the Hochharz/Brocken national park. Just outside the town of Blankenburg/Harz, the former Cistercian Michaelstein monastery invites visitors to take a break in the most tranquil of settings.

Quedlinburg’s Old Town bears witness to eight centuries of traditional half-timbered architecture. From here, the route runs over the Kyffhäuser hills to Weimar, cradle of German Classicism. Passing beautiful landscapes of Thüringen - old castles and palaces - you will find the way to the imposing Wartburg Castle.
