Runa Islam - Empty the pond to get the fish

The artist Runa Islam, born in 1970 in Dhaka, Bangladesh, works with the aesthetic and the illusionary character of film in her installations and projections. Her works disrupt typical cinematographic narrative forms, diverting the viewer’s attention to the complex spatial context. Analytics and sensation become intertwined as the construction and social function of the moving picture are equated with experiments in our own perception, with questions pertaining to our own subjectivity and our own visual desire.
As part of the presentation of her work at the MUMOK-Factory, the London-based artist will create a new film installation.
