>emerging artists 08: Austria

The >emerging artists< series, which was launched in 2000, highlights artists and locations
that have, so far, achieved little visibility, but have the potential of exerting a major impact on
the art of the future. In 2008, the focus will be on artists from Austria. The current concept
will be published at www.essl.museum, early in 2008. All artists meeting the application
criteria will be invited to submit their portfolios , which will be scrutinised by the curators of
the Essl Museum. Curators will visit the applicants selected in their studios to make sure that
the final choice is as objective as possible, being based on an assessment of original works.
