Art after 1970. From the Albertina Collection.

From 12 October 2007 to 6 January 2008, the Albertina will be presenting an exhibition entitled "Art after 1970. From the Albertina", including around 150 works and providing insight into its great collection of contemporary art. The main focus of the exhibition is on the confrontation between various formations of art history from 1970 onwards, manifested by "artists' spaces". Artists thus enter into dialogue with each other: Baselitz with Richter, Polke with Lüpertz, Alex Katz with Roy Lichtenstein, and the Leipzig artist Christiane Baumgartner with Franz Gertsch. However, the exhibition also presents individual positions, including Maria Lassnig, Arnulf Rainer, Robert Longo and William Kentrige, in their own artists' spaces.
