The focusses of the collection are medieval wood sculptures from the Lower Rhine, an excellent collection of early new graphics and works of the Rhenish sculptor, painter and graphic artist Ewald Mataré (1887-1965).

Joseph Beuys had his studio in the ancient Kurhaus Kleve from 1957-1964.
