26 mayo 2008 – 18 octubre 2008 Nathalie Djurberg - in BASE 103The Goetz Collection is screening in BASE 103 seven short animated films and an associated sculptural group by Swedish artist Nathalie Djurberg (*Lysekil, 1978). In contrast to the subtle irony of Francis Alÿs, whose work is being shown at the museum concurrently, Djurberg’s films are notable for their black humor.Djurberg reveals a versatile talent in her works. She is her own director and cameraman, and also handles the technical implementation herself, including making the costumes, the plasticine figures and the papier mâché/plasticine scenery. Every image is shot with a mini-DV video camera in the protracted stop-motion technique, though frequently traces of the shooting process, such as for example the strings of the puppets or the artist’s own hands, are left visible, which gives the films an air of faux unpolished naivety. Her partner Hans Berg composes the often unsettling electronic soundtrack, which in part reinforces the atmosphere of the films but often underlines the cruelty of the darkly grotesque scenes. direcciónSammlung GoetzOberföhringer Strasse 103 81925 München fon +49 89 95 93 96 90 http://www.sammlung-goetz.de horariosVisits only on appointment.
