The cooperation between the Pinakothek der Moderne and the Siemens Arts Program, which began with the handing over of the Siemens Photographic Collection in 2003, continues with the exhibition »Fiona Tan | 80 Days«, organised jointly by the curators Inka Graeve Ingelmann (Pinakothek der Moderne) and Angelika Nollert (Siemens Arts Program). It provides visitors with the opportunity to take a closer look at the photo, film and video art of the Amsterdam-based artist. On show are seven film and photo installations. Centrepiece of the exhibition are the tableau-like works »Vox Populi« (2004-2007) and the film installation »Countenance« (2002). A central theme of the artist’s work is the role of the contemporary portrait in photography and film. Tan conducts an ongoing discourse with the notions of individual and collective identity. Against the background of social change and the interrelationships of diverse national cultures the artist explores the networked forms of cultural binding.
