bettina rheims - heroínes

In a first exhibition in Germany, the kestnergesellschaft is presenting the series héroïnes by the French photographer Bettina Rheims, born in 1952 in Paris, whose works are known for erotic as well as provocative themes. With héroïnes (2005), the artist once again explores feminine eroticism. Numbering among her heroines are, among others, Milla Jovovitch, Bianca Li, Eva Ionesco and Tilda Swinton, for all of whom she has photographed intimate portraits. A publication concerning the photographic series is appearing in Schimer/Mosel Verlag.
