Emil Schumacher. "Closer to Earth than the Stars." Painting from 1938 to 1997

This show presents works by Emil Schumacher (1912-1999), the most significant artist of German informal abstract art. The paintings are from the 1930s and 1940s, when they were still representational, through to the great abstract works of his later period up until the late, figurative paintings from the final years of the artist’s life.
