From Leonardo to Piranesi. Italian Drawings from 1450 to 1800

No other artists have so keenly devoted themselves to exploring the subject of beauty like the Italians. Their elegant lines and sense of proportion make their drawings especially pleasing from an aesthetic point of view. In the exhibition From Leonardo to Piranesi. Italian Drawings from 1450 to 1800, which will run from 24 October 2008 to 1 February 2009, the Hamburger Kunsthalle presents the most significant and valuable Italian drawings from its holdings, which are unmatched in Germany. From Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael and Michelangelo to Sandro Botticelli, Guercino, Canaletto and Giovanni Battista Piranesi, many of the greatest Italian artists will be represented with outstanding works.
