Memoirs of a photo model
(some 40 pictures by celebrated fashion photographers from 1936 - 1956)

Karin Stilke was "discovered" on a Berlin street in 1936 and whisked away to make a meteoric career as a photographic model. For a time she represented the ideal woman around which stylistic ideas crystallized in German fashion photography, and even fashion drawings and advertising images used her as their model. While the career of the majority of photo models lasts on average three to ten years, Karin Stilke's professional biography continued up to 1957. This means that she was one of the most sought-after German photo models for almost twenty years. The exhibition to mark the publication of the book of the same name shows some 40 fashion pictures by the most celebrated photographers of the period.
