Manuel Knapp - stroboscopic noise~

Premiere of the longer version of Diagonale 2008 trailer: In his animation stroboscopic noise~ (10 min 6 sek), Austrian artist Manuel Knapp investigates the aesthetic possibilities of a line choreographed in a reduced formal environment.

The artist is (cinematographic and painterly) constructor and a composer of a singular straight line, choreographed with an uttermost perfection within a reduced environment of a simulated space. Such most elemental formal component – a line (and its variables – is considered as a primary and the only construction material, which, via carefully studied process of mutations and ever-changeable frequences, is used to conceive a unique dense architecture of patterns, surfaces and other unexpected spatial intensities.
