30 noviembre 2008 – 30 marzo 2009 Exploratory Songs | Minotaure - The art review by Albert Skira (1933-1939)Albert Skira (1904-1973) was the founder in Paris of the magazine Minotaure. The first issue came out in June 1933. Until its publication was interrupted at the beginning of World War II, its readers were offered thirteen issues all characterised by a very eclectic approach to the topics covered and their excellent technical quality. The periodical's avowed aim was to present the spirit of contemporary movements through text and images, while at the same time striving to demonstrate that art, science and literature are inextricably bound together. Given the polyphonic nature of this work, the Cabinet des Estampes has chosen to follow – through engravings by Picasso and Seligmann, works by Max Ernst and Dali, objects created by Duchamp, and photographs taken by Man Ray – just a few of the many paths suggested by this magazine symbolised by a Minotaur's head.direcciónMusée d'art et d'histoireRue Charles-Galland 2 1206 Genève fon +41 22 418 22 00 http://www.ville-ge.ch/musinfo/mahg horariosDaily 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., closed on Monday.descripción del MuseoErected between 1903 and 1910 and designed as an encyclopedic museum, it covers the whole of western culture, from its origins to the present days. The three sectors of the museum comprise Archaeology (prehistoric, Egyptian, Greek, Etruscan, Roman); Fine Arts (some 400 paintings from the Renaissance to modern times, and sculptures by artists such as Houdon, Pradier, Rodin, Arp, Giacometti, Tinguely, etc.); Applied Arts (objects from the Middle Ages to the 20th century, such as furniture, textiles, pewterware, arms and armor). |
