The series Made insubmersible comprises ten panoramas that seem familiar yet are difficult to identify and provoke a dizzying feeling mixed with a certain fascination. The series is a commissioned work created by Made in for the book Le feu au lac, published by Avenir Suisse in 2006 (editions NZZ Libro / Tricorne). The authors, who are architects, began by reflecting on the Lake Geneva region and in particular its most essential "monument" one of the largest of Europe, Lake Geneva itself. They selected sites on both sides of the lake, studied their urban presence, orientation and characteristics, and produced a collage of pairings while removing the body of water from the image. Each photograph is associated with an excerpted text culled from a work of literature or a guidebook for tourists. A slideshow completes the presentation with information on the characteristics of the sites and the reasoning that went into their respective pairings.
