Restored for the future - Ottoman textiles from Dresden's armoury

The exhibition “Restauriert für die Zukunft” (‘Restored for the Future’) presents five Ottoman textile items - four flags and the overhead section of a tent - belonging to the Rüstkammer (Armoury) in the Dresden State Art Collections. They are now on display for the first time since the Rüstkammer collections were evacuated for safe-keeping in 1942.

The Grünes Gewölbe (Green Vault) enjoys world renown as one of Europe’s most sumptuous treasure chambers. In two exhibition areas "Neues Grünes Gewölbe" (New Green Vault) and "Historisches Grünes Gewölbe" (Historic Green Vault) of very different character, visitors will experience these magnificent artworks of gold, silver, precious gems, enamel, ivory, bronze and amber.

Already open to the public since September 2004, the “Neues Grünes Gewölbe” presents some 1,080 objects of the Renaissance to Classicist periods on the first upper floor of the West Wing.
