15 marzo 2008 – 15 junio 2008 progressive cologne 1920-33 - seiwert-hoerle-arntzOver thirty years have passed since the Cologne Progressives were last the subject of a large-scale exhibition. The central concern of the group was the unification of art and radical politics. The loosely organized circle of politically and artistically like-minded individuals in 1920s Cologne sought a new and unique formal language re-shaped by class consciousness. By focusing on three core members, Franz Wilhelm Seiwert, Heinrich Hoerle and Gerd Arntz, the exhibition will reveal the group’s shared project as never before.By no means merely regional, the Progressives’ contact to international artists, critics and intellectuals helped shape the face of Weimar period art. Their work was shown in exhibitions in New York, Moscow and Berlin, to name just a few. The end of the Cologne Progressives coincided with the end of the Weimar Republic. During the Nazi period their art was declared “degenerate.” direcciónMuseum LudwigHeinrich-Böll-Platz 50667 Köln fon +49 221 22 12 61 65 http://www.museum-ludwig.de horariosTuesday-Sunday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., every first Friday in Month 10 a.m. - 10 p.m., closed on Monday.descripción del MuseoThe collection of the Museum Ludwig in Cologne begins with the turn of the century and contains the most important phases and positions of modernity.opened 1986; architects: Peter Busmann and Godfrid Haberer |
