21 abril 2007 – 24 junio 2007 Tomas Schmit. Are Humans Capable of Thought? How does a chameleon know what colour it should assume? Or how does a flounder, whose eyes peer upwards, know when the seabed is the same colour as its own scales? How does bamboo manage to blossom all around the world at the same time, as if God in person had fired a starting pistol? These are questions that not many scientists dare to raise - for fear of making fools of themselves. Tomas Schmit raises them. And he has shown that much that occurs in the realms of animal, plant and human life is far more puzzling and bizarre than appearances first suggest. His art has constantly sought to plumb the mechanisms of perception. Schmit has enlarged on his work and ideas in a series of catalogues that are highly prized by his collectors and admirers. The fourth is now scheduled to appear. To mark this, Museum Ludwig is dedicating an exhibition to Tomas Schmit, who died in October this year, that will give a deep insight into his work since the 1970s.direcciónMuseum LudwigHeinrich-Böll-Platz 50667 Köln fon +49 221 22 12 61 65 http://www.museum-ludwig.de horariosTuesday-Sunday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., every first Friday in Month 10 a.m. - 10 p.m., closed on Monday.descripción del MuseoThe collection of the Museum Ludwig in Cologne begins with the turn of the century and contains the most important phases and positions of modernity.opened 1986; architects: Peter Busmann and Godfrid Haberer |
